Neilson Martin
Neilson Martin is currently a Research Fellow at Curtin University where he has been working since moving to Australis in November 2003.
Neilson started working with twins for his PhD project with Prof Peter McGuffin at the University of Wales Collede of Medicine, Cardiff. This study was the largest of its kind at the time
and the first to properly compare data collected from different people (parents and teachers) with different measures on the same traits. The results of this study highlighted the importance of
design in research studies as choosing different measures can drastically alter your observations and you may not actually be looking at what you intended to.
After completion of his PhD, Neilson then went to Oxford University for an NHMRC awarded Special Training Fellowship in Bioinformatics. During this time he picked up a variety of statistical methods
along with learning several programming languages. During this time he also began working on online databases.
Since arriving at Curtin, Neilson has been involved in the ATAP project, managing and analysing the data for several projects. He has also over-hauled the website and added several new features.
