Introducing the checklist - deciding whether to separate multiples
The checklist covers many of
the aspects of the multiples? behaviour when considering school
separation. The whole argument cannot be reduced to a simple
score for or against separation. Rather this list of topics
with two main purposes:
(i) to help teachers and parents
think about all the issues that may be relevant to the decision.
Often only one aspect of the multiples? behaviour will dominate
the decision and no attention is paid to other behaviours
that could swing the decision the opposite way.
(ii) to make the teacher (s) and both parents
aware of the behaviour of the multiples. Often they may be unaware
of how different behaviour can be between home and at school
as previously discussed under "Communication".
By working through the following list and discussing points
for and against separation or being together on each variable,
they will be able to make a much more informed decision
